Crime Prevention |

Good afternoon resident, With the approach of the earlier darker nights we want to provide some Crime Prevention Advice in the hope to try to minimise the amount of crimes in the area.
These are some steps that we as a police force advise: - Check alarms or install one if you haven't already. - Check locks, look into upgrading locks if needed. - Install a dusk to dawn light or motion detection lights, this increases visibility and can deter burglars. - Remember to cancel deliveries if you are going away. - Don't leave parcels in the sight of thieves, inform the delivery company of a safe place to leave parcels if you are not in. - Think about what thieves can see from the street, don't place valuables in sight of thieves. - Keep jewellery and heirlooms safe. - Keep sheds and outbuildings secure. - Leave a light on when you are out, don't leave your house in complete darkest. - Keep hedges low, Tall hedges mean burglars have a place to hide behind. - Don't leave doors open, residents who live in flats make sure you know who you are letting in and make sure the door is closed behind you. - An open window is an open door. - Don't publicise boxes and rubbish of expensive items: TV's, play stations, phones, ETC - Lock vehicles, remove valuables and secure the vehicle with steering wheel locks. - Hide car keys away from sight, faraday pouches/boxes stop the signal escaping preventing thieves from relaying it and gaining access to your vehicle. - Secure bikes, lock up in secure sheds or garages. - Stay vigilant, look out for your neighbours, let neighbours know if you are going away and ask if they can keep an eye on the house. - Report suspicious activity, Contact police if you see anything unusual Call 999 or 101.
